FAQ - Underpinned property insurance
Here are some of the questions we are frequently asked about our

How long does it take to arrange underpinned property
insurance?
The process of getting on cover for your
underpinned property is slightly longer than on a standard home.
This usually takes around 7-14 days. The process includes a site
survey.
Do I have to arrange a site survey?
Towergate Connect will arrange a survey on
the property. This is an underwriting requirement before we can
commence insurance cover. This will cost you a flat fee of
£160.
How do I find out an approximate premium price?
Contact us to get an indication of the
premium. If you are happy with this indication we will require a
proposal form along with your building documentation. We will then
send this information to our underwriters who will give a more
accurate premium.
What other documentation do I need to send in with the proposal
form?
You need to send us any structural
engineering reports and certificate of structural adequacy.
What if I can't find all of the necessary documentation?
We will still be able to provide you with
an indication premium from the proposal form you complete and send
into us.
Would I still be covered for subsidence, heave or landslip with
underpinned property insurance?
Yes. We will still provide this cover for
you, with an excess of 2.5 percent of the buildings sum insured, up
to a maximum of £5,000.
I have sold/am in the process of selling my underpinned
property - can the underpinned insurance policy be transferred
to the new owner?
Yes. This policy can be transferred to new
owners. Contact us to arrange the transfer.
What do I do if I need to cancel my cover?
You are entitled to a full refund of the
premium paid if you find the policy unsuitable for your needs and
cancel it within 14 days of receipt of your policy documents (as
long as no claims have been made). If you need to cancel cover
after that time, cancellation charges will apply. Please call us or
notify us in writing with the reason for cancellation and state the
date from which you need cover to cease. Remember, if your policy
is in more than one name, all policyholders will need to sign the

Can I arrange contents cover as well?
Yes. We can provide contents insurance
cover as well as buildings cover. Just add these requirements to
the proposal form.
Can I arrange insurance cover if I am in the process of
underpinning my property?
Towergate Connect will provide full cover
once work has been completed.
I only plan to use my underpinned property for holidays. Will
Towergate Connect still arrange cover for this?
Yes. We can provide cover for holiday usage
only.
